Unraveling The Association With Shincheonji And The COVID-19 Outbreak

Many quasi-religious groups exist worldwide, but the Shincheonji Church of Jesus has become a worldwide talk. The Christian new religious movement was found in 1984, i.e., over 30 years back. The individual infected was traced back to be a member of the Shincheonji, which later resulted in negative public and media attention against the church members. Lee Man-hee publicly apologized for the unintentional outbreak of this virus by its own church members. In addition, he continues to speak about the false accuse of the spread of this virus. Shincheonji religion has the structure of following a unique process of worshipping. The congregation members of Shincheonji have to kneel in tight rows. The members are prohibited from covering their mouth and face with sunglasses or masks. This method and practice of this Shincheonji Church of Jesus directly allow the virus spread among the members. Shincheonji followers and members believe that the virus was the work of the devil to prevent church work. They believe and consider that the virus was a kind of blockage to the improvement of the religion. And hence they continue to practice their faith. And this ultimately allow the rapid rise and spread of the virus in South Korea in enormous numbers.
